Who is My Favorite Character in the Blanchard Series?
I've been asked a few time who my favorite character is in the world of the Blanchards. That is too difficult an answer to give for several reasons. I could say that since I created everyone, its hard to choose a favorite. But that isn't actually true. Primarily, its difficult to pick because each book has multiple storylines different from its preceding book. Some characters are more in the foreground in certain volumes and not in others. And, (spoiler alert) not everyone stays alive through the course of the series. For this reason, and since right now only the first book is on the shelves, I will speak only of Volume One THE BLANCHARD WITCHES OF DAIHMLER COUNTY.
In a series about a family of witches, its a little ironic that my absolute favorite character in this introductory book into the Blanchard world, is Yasmine Sinclair--who is not a witch and has no powers at all.
Yasmine (often lovingly called Yazzy or Yaz in the book), is a Blanchard by marriage. Her grandfather Randolph Sinclair was Olympia Blanchard's third husband. When Yasmine was six years old, her parents and brother were killed in a car accident. She came to live with her grandfather and his new family. When her grandfather died a few years later, Yasmine was already embedded in the hearts of the Blanchard family and Olympia considered her as much a grandchild as the rest of her natural grandchildren.
Yasmine is the heart of the family, and a good portion of its humor. She is a very wealthy young woman in her own right who works as an office assistant because she prefers working to being an heiress. Her female cousins are more like her sisters in her heart, and theirs. And her one male cousin Seth--well, he may have been like a brother once, but adulthood has raised newer feelings in her heart. Completely oblivious to the fact that Yasmine is in love with him, Seth continues to treat her like the goofy little cousin he's known all his life.
