Salem Witch Exonerated 329 Years Later


 

Massachusetts lawmakers formally exonerated Elizabeth Johnson Jr., who was accused of being a witch in 1693 at the height of the Salem Witch Trials.  It only took 329 years to clear her name, but it was officially handled in May of this year.

It all began in a North Andover classroom.  Teacher Carrie LaPierre (pictured above) and her students proposed the acquittal and followed through until the legislation was passed.
